Once

This small budget, 2006 surprise hit will make audiences fall in love with it all over again. The story of a developing friendship, romance and musical collaboration is set in Dublin. All of the music in the film was written by the two leading actors, Glen Hansard (of the Irish band the Frames) and Marketa Irglova. Both the film and music won awards including the 2007 Independent Spirit Award for best foreign film. “Falling Slowly” won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the soundtrack as a whole was nominated for a Grammy Award. Today, the play Once, based on the film, is one of the most popular musicals on Broadway.
