Lost and Sound
A fear of going deaf is on most people’s list of worries of becoming somehow disabled. This touching documentary focuses on three individuals for whom the fear has become a reality. A couple of questions are posed: What happens to the music you’ve known most of your life when you lose your hearing? Is there a way to recover those melodies? The soundtrack goes from loud to barely audible, to give an idea of what deaf people hear. Filmmaker Lindsey Dryden is herself partially deaf so you can imagine her documentary is very personal.
